Billy Moore Days will take place in Historic Avondale, it marks the 73rd anniversary of Avondale’s incorporation with the return of the event’s favorite elements including the Billy Moore Days Parade and Carnival.

Location:  Festival activities are held along Western Avenue between 3rd Street & 6th Street.

Friday, October 18 –  6pm – 10 pm
Saturday, October 19 –  11am – 10pm

The West Valley Maverick’s Saloon:

Stop into our saloon to wet your whistle!  The saloon is located near the main stage and all proceeds from the saloon benefit the West Valley Mavericks.  Only for our adults guests, our beer garden will feature Crescent Crown products to include:

– Laguntas
– Victoria


The City of Avondale’s History on Display

During the weekend event, visit the lobby of the Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library  to learn about the history of our city.  A display will be up that will showcase a historic timeline, pinpointing key features in Avondale’s history, as well as feature the legend of Billy Moore, Avondale’s founder.

Take a trip back in time to roping, horsemanship and good old fashioned fun!  Dr. Buck’s Wild West Stage Show will include The Wild West Comedy Fight and Stunt show, The Wizard of the West “Mysterioso” Magic show, True West Tales with old west Historian Cowboy Lee Anderson, and Tom B. (aka:”The Crazy Whip Guy”). This year will also feature the Great Facial Hair Fiasco (a beard and mustache contest). Click here for more details about the contest.

Free kids activities give a flavor for the old west with a Rubber Band Shootout (Game), Bow & Arrow Bull’s-eye Quest (Game), Gold Panning (Activity), Rodeo Calf Roping (Activity), Yee Haw Holler (Contest for Kids & Adults), and Tug-O-War (Activity).

Prepare yourself for the best mobile Petting Zoo in Arizona. Carters Farm didn’t invent the petting zoo, but they’ve made theirs the best in town. Their friendly animals are raised on their farm for one purpose…..being loved on. Their employees will wow you with knowledge and care for these wonderful critters. There will be 18 – 25 animals available in the petting zoo.

Join us for good old fashion fun at our pie eating contest at 2:00 pm on the Soundbite Stage(4th Street & Western).

Divisions for:
Adult (12 years or older)
Young Adults (6-11 years)

There is an opportunity for everyone to participate!  Pies provided by Village Inn and prize will be given.  To sign up stop by the Village Inn booth by Saturday 1:00 pm

Barrel Wars!Barrel Wars 2
Saturday 3:00 pm – Western Avenue just east of 3rd Street

Come and witness this fantastic battle of the hoses!  Watch Avondale Fire Department challenge other local fire departments in a battle with their fire hoses pushing a barrel back and forth along a cable. Following the fire department challenge will be the Southwest Lending Closet Challenge. If you are interested in participating, click here to download the registration form. Come join us at Billy Moore Days in Avondale on Saturday, October 19th, as we raise funds for the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation with a Cornhole Tournament. Bring your own partner for this single elimination tournament. The team fee is $40, and will be split so that 50% of the proceeds benefit the National Pediatric Cancer foundation and 50% will be distributed as prize money to the top 3 teams.  1st place will receive 60% of the cash, 2nd place will receive 20%, and 3rd place will receive 10%.  Players between the age of 10-12 years old will be allowed to throw from a “junior” line. Anyone over the age of 12 will throw from the standard throw line.  Click here for registration information.
